LIMITED EDITION 30TH ANNIVERSARY FLESH AND WOOD ALBUM VINYL ALMOST SOLD OUT
Jimmy Barnes’ return to touring has been overwhelmingly welcomed by fans with five shows on his national Hell of a Time Tour selling out within a day as well as an announcement that the Red Hot Summer Tour has been extended with two Queensland shows in Noosa and Cairns added to the run.
Jimmy’s first show back will be an early evening, unique performance at Bluesfest over the Easter Long Weekend celebrating the 30th anniversary of the release of his Flesh and Wood album. Tickets to Bluesfest Byron Bay are on sale now from Moshtix.
Three previously announced Red Hot Summer Tour shows follow at Roche Estate in the NSW Hunter Valley (6 April), the Country Club Lawns in Launceston (13 April) and Bendigo Racecourse (27 April).
The two new Queensland shows are Noosa & District Sports Ground on the Sunshine Coast on Saturday, 18 May (with The Living End, Birds of Tokyo, Pete Murray, Kasey Chambers and Mahalia Barnes & The Soul Mates) and Cairns Showgrounds in Far North Queensland on Saturday, 25 May (with The Living End, Jon Stevens, Pete Murray, Kasey Chambers and Mahalia Barnes & The Soul Mates). Tickets for all these shows are on sale now from redhotsummertour.com.au
Tickets to the new Hell of a Time Tour, an up-close-and-personal show which will see Jimmy telling short stories and tall tales as well as singing some of his favourite songs, including tracks celebrating the 30th anniversary of his Flesh and Wood album, have been going gangbusters since tickets went on sale on Monday.
Shows in Mandurah, Frankston, Warragul, Wyong and Thirroul all sold out within 24 hours of going on sale. Two new shows have been announced – Anita’s Theatre in Thirroul on 13 August, with tickets going on sale shortly. A 2nd show was added at The Art House in Wyong on 5 August which also sold out within hours. This will be Jimmy’s final tour for 2024.
Special guest on all the Hell of a Time Tour shows will be Victorian singer/songwriter, Taylor Sheridan.
Tickets to the Hell of a Time Tour are on sale from here.
These shows see Barnes return to the stage following his admission to hospital on 27 November last year with bacterial pneumonia requiring open heart surgery.
It’s now been a little over 9 weeks since the surgery and as fans have seen through his social media posts and his recent 60 Minutes interview, his road to recovery has been inspirational with doctors giving him the all clear to start preparing for his return to the stage.
Bloodlines are releasing a limited edition sand-coloured vinyl reissue of Flesh and Wood, celebrating 30 years since the release of Jimmy’s much-loved seventh solo studio album. All vinyl copies will be personally signed by Jimmy and are available for pre-order now from here.
Flesh and Wood was Jimmy’s seventh solo album and entered the Australian charts at #2 in December 1993. It went on to garner triple platinum sales, spending eight weeks in the Top 10 and four months in the Top 50. Flesh and Wood featured duets with the likes of Joe Cocker, Diesel, Ross Wilson, Don Walker, The Badloves and Archie Roach, with four singles released from the album: The Weight, a Top 10 hit, followed by You Can’t Make Love Without A Soul, Still Got A Long Way To Go and It Will Be Alright.
Jimmy said, “I’ve visited all my doctors now and they all tell me the same thing. I am ready to rock. I’ve been in my gym every day (sometimes twice a day) and I feel fitter and stronger with each passing day. My band are chomping at the bit and just like me, they can’t wait to hit the stage. So bring on the tour! Get your tickets soon because it seems a lot of you are keen to come out and celebrate with us and I wouldn’t want you to miss out. See you on the road.”
